FAQ

Why do we need footwear recycling?

The disposing of used sports shoes via incineration or landfill is not only a pressing environmental concern but also a significant waste of valuable resources that have the potential to be reclaimed.

ASGA Save Our Soles Initiative aims to collect 100 tonnes nationally over the three years.

Will the program be coming to other states?

We are working to establish a national network of drop-off locations throughout Australia. Please refer to the find a drop-off location on this website for current collection sites.

Can send sports footwear in the mail?

At this stage, we do not offer this service.

Who pays for the recycling scheme?

ASGA Save Our Soles Initiative scheme has been funded by the members of the Australian Sporting Goods Association. Further information on funding members can be found on the foundation members page.

Where is my nearest drop-off site?

Please refer to the find a drop-off location on this website for current collection sites.

ASGA Save Our Soles Initiative continues to establish sites throughout Australia.

Can my office or school become a collection site?

Due to maintaining costs of the collection scheme, we are only collecting unwanted footwear form our designated drop-off partners.

Local schools can arrange collection events with our local drop-off partners. Please contact sos@asga.com.au for further information.

How many sports shoes can I drop off?

We have placed a limited of 10kgs per person due to the storage capacity of our drop-off partners.
